SGPA conducted TE Assessment – Public Run from 24 to 28 March 2025, attracting 64 participating teams from organisations including the Global Indian School, Housing Development Board, Institute of Technical Education, National Heart Centre Singapore, and Republic of Singapore Air Force. Among the participating teams, 17% achieved the Star Award—the highest recognition—while 40% were awarded the prestigious Gold Award, underscoring Singapore’s strong commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

On 20 December 2024, SGPA conducted an In-house Team Excellence Assessment for the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) at the Air Force Museum. Over 70% of the participating teams were awarded either the Star or Gold Award, reflecting the RSAF’s strong commitment as an advocate for continuous improvement within the organisation.

On 4 December 2024, the Global Indian International School (GIIS) organised the Real World Challenge Convention 2024, featuring 12 participating teams from both Primary and Secondary levels under the Quality Circle segment. SGPA treated this as an In-house Team Excellence Assessment, evaluating the teams’ projects and providing valuable feedback on the quality of their work. This collaboration enabled the organiser to adopt SGPA’s evaluation criteria in recognising and awarding the young innovators for their creativity, problem-solving skills, and commitment to continuous improvement.

From 23 to 27 September 2024, SGPA organised the Team Excellence (TE) Assessment – Public Run, featuring 67 teams from the Housing Development Board, Institute of Technical Education, National Heart Centre Singapore, Petrochemical Corporation of Singapore, and ST Engineering Marine. Of the participating teams, 15% were awarded the prestigious Star Award, while 43% achieved the Gold Award, demonstrating Singapore’s strong commitment to excellence and innovation.

Team Excellence Assessment
Team Excellence (TE) journey in Singapore traces its roots back to the 1980s, when the Innovation and Quality Circles (IQCs) movement first took shape. Spearheaded by SPRING Singapore—then the national body for promoting productivity—IQCs encouraged employees to form teams, identify problems, and solve them collaboratively. These grassroots initiatives sparked a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and learning in the workplace.
In Singapore, SGPA leads the Team Excellence movement, helping organisations embed a culture of improvement and innovation in their teams. The Team Excellence Assessment (TEA)—the only national-level platform for grading teams in terms of continuous improvement and innovation—continues the legacy of the IQC movement by recognising and celebrating teams that drive excellence in their organisations.
Team Formation
Team formation serves the purpose of continuous improvement, innovation, and learning.
Team Excellence
Excellence is pursued through the adoption of best practices under the umbrella of Business Excellence.
Assessment Modes
Assessments are conducted by a panel of assessors and can be held in two formats: Public Run or In-house.
Public Runs
Public Runs take place every March and September. They provide a platform for teams to present their innovation projects and for audiences from various organisations and industries to learn from the projects shared. This cross-sharing environment fosters inspiration, sparks new ideas, and encourages the adaptation of similar projects across different sectors and functions.
In-house Runs
In-house Runs are tailored for a single organisation and held at the organisation’s premises upon request. These sessions enable internal teams—such as process improvement groups or organisational excellence teams—to showcase their work, share ideas, and learn from one another. The in-house format strengthens a culture of innovation, helps improve processes, and allows the dissemination of best practices and ideas within the organisation.
